WRLIT-304

With notable exceptions, the American publishing industry has not paid a lot of attention to fiction published abroad. Yet, in the past few years, we've seen a renewed interest in authors from other countries, many of whom have been translated into English and made widely available. This seminar will examine a few trends and tendencies in international fiction. We will place emphasis on writers who write short novels and novellas to be able to cover a wide spectrum of styles and interests, and we will try to read authors from as many countries and continents as possible. Many of these text will be translations.
