Young Artist Studio

CCA's Young Artist Studio Program (YASP) is an exciting, intensive studio experience for students who want to explore the visual arts in a professional art school setting. Eligible students have just completed the sixth, seventh, or eighth grade.

2013 YASP Programs

June 17-21 (Oakland campus)

ONE-WEEK, ALL-DAY PROGRAM
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Participants choose one of the following studios:

Animation
Architecture: Sustainable House
Black & White Photography (CLOSED, please choose another studio)
Building with Drawing
Cartoon Drawing
Designing with Metal / Jewelry Design (CLOSED, please choose another studio)
Explorations in Painting & Drawing (CLOSED, please choose another studio)

July 29-August 9 (Oakland campus)

TWO-WEEK, ALL-DAY PROGRAMS
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Morning studios are scheduled from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.; afternoon studios are scheduled from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Participants choose one of the following for their morning studio:

Clay Animation
Digital Photography (CLOSED, please choose another studio)
Motion Graphics
Painting

All students take Explorations in Drawing as an afternoon studio and choose one of the following for their other afternoon studio:

July 29-August 9 (San Francisco campus)

Participants choose one of the following for their morning studio:

The Art of Animation

Architecture: Future House
Painting

All students take Explorations in Drawing as an afternoon studio and choose one of the following for their other afternoon studio:

Digital Photography
Graphic Design
Sculptural Felting & Dyeing


July 29 through August 9 (Oakland campus)

TWO-WEEK, HALF-DAY PROGRAM

Participants take Graphic Design and Explorations in Drawing. Studios are scheduled from 12:15 to 2:15 p.m. and from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Final Exhibition

Each program ends with an exhibition, where family and friends have the opportunity to see what their young artist has created during their time at YASP.

Oakland program exhibitions are held in the Oliver Art Center, a professional exhibition space. The San Francisco program exhibition takes place throughout the Nave.
