First Project Runway, Now Highest Ranking . . .
Apparently having CCA Fashion Design alumna Amy Sarabi competing in Season 7 of Project Runway just wasn't enough media attention—now CCA's celebrated Fashion Design Program has been praised by College Crunch as a top-10 college fashion design degree program in the United States!

Haiti Relief Fundraiser: Thanks, CCA, for Making it a Success! »

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the student-organized Haiti Relief Fundraiser on Thursday, January 28, 2010. All of the food for sale was generously donated by CCA students who cooked and baked amazing things. Every bit of food was sold, raising $573.25 for relief efforts!
The community truly came out to support the cause, and many persons made additional donations beyond their purchases. See the Student Life page on Flickr to view more images from the fundraiser.

CCA Media Arts Students Live it Up at Sundance Film Festival »

Yesterday California College of Arts faculty member Cheryl Dunye escorted 12 CCA Media Arts students on one of the most exciting adventures a student could dream up: a weekend at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
Students arrived sleepy-eyed at the crack of dawn at the San Francisco International Airport to board their plane, but the excitement stayed in the air and kept everyone amped up for a good time.

Media Arts Cochair Rob Epstein's Film Howl Makes Big Splash at Sundance San Francisco »

Last night San Francisco made history by hosting "Sundance Film Festival U.S.A." at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas in Japantown. CCA Media Arts cochair Rob Epstein and codirector Jeffrey Friedman were on hand for the screening of their new feature film, Howl, which kicked off the Sundance Film Festival last week in Park City, Utah, and will screen once again tonight.

CCA Students: Apply for a Center for Art and Public Life Student Grant to help Haiti relief efforts. Special consideration will be given during the application review process for grant proposals addressing needs in Haiti.

Aimee Phan Awarded $25,000 NEA Fellowship! »

CCA Writing and Literature chair and assistant professor Aimee Phan, also an assistant professor in the college’s MFA Program in Writing, has been awarded a $25,000 National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) 2010 Literature Fellowship in Creative Writing.

Alumna Youmna Chlala Awarded 2009 Joseph Henry Jackson Literary Award »

Congratulations to CCA Graduate Program in Writing alumna, writer, and visual artist Youmna Chlala for being awarded the distinguished 2009 Joseph Henry Jackson Award for her poetry manuscript The Paper Camera. In addition to a $2,000 cash award, Chlala’s manuscript will be permanently housed at UC Berkeley’s Bancroft Library. She was also invited to read from her award-winning manuscript at a separate awards ceremony held November 16 at 7 p.m. at Intersection for the Arts in San Francisco.

Support Haiti Disaster Relief »

Want to do something for the victims of the Haiti earthquake, but don't know how to get involved? CCA students will hold a bake sale with all profits going to the disaster victims.
The fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday, January 28, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., on the San Francisco campus in the Nave. If you would like to participate in the fundraiser, contact tcervetti@cca.edu or glee@cca.edu for more information.
