Logan Galleries, San Francisco campus

In conjunction with the exhibition The California Files: Re-Viewing Side Effects of Cultural Memory, presentations will be made by Avery Clayton, from the Mayme A. Clayton Collection of African American Culture and History, and Rick Prelinger and Megan Shaw Prelinger, from the Prelinger Library and Archives.

The Prelinger Library is an experimental research library centered on histories of U.S. regions, culture, industry, landscape, natural history, media, and politics. The Prelinger Archives are a collection of films, mostly shorts made for industrial or educational distribution. Its goal is to collect, preserve, and facilitate access to films of historic significance that haven't been collected elsewhere.

The Mayme A. Clayton Collection of African American Culture and History is the largest privately held collection of African American historical materials in the world. The collection aims to preserve the unique history and cultural heritage of Americans of African descent and allow the expressions of intelligence, creativity, and nobility to serve as a cultural compass to a more complete understanding of American history.
