Runa Islam uses overlapping narrative layers in her installations to explore notions of truth, fiction, subjectivity, and authorship. Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and now living in London, Islam has participated in many group exhibitions, including the 51st Venice Biennale (2005) and the 8th International Istanbul Biennial (2003). She has had solo exhibitions at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Dunkers Kulturhus, Helsingborg, Sweden; Camden Arts Centre, London; the Centre d'Art Santa Mònica, Barcelona; and the MIT List Visual Arts Center, Cambridge, Massachusetts.
