A veteran journalist and analyst, Denise Caruso wrote the technology column for the New York Times from 1995 until 2000, when she founded the nonprofit Hybrid Vigor Institute. The institute investigates collaboration in addressing complex social and scientific problems; it also published Caruso's 2006 book Intervention: Confronting the Real Risks of Genetic Engineering and Life on a Biotech Planet. Caruso's current interests include new methods for mitigating the risk of global infectious disease and linking printed text with electronic media.
