Technebiotics
Friday, November 2, 2007, 2–6 pm

The Nave, San Francisco campus
Admission is free. Email sfw@berkeley.edu for more information.

Part science fair, part county fair, this interactive event features multiple live demonstrations and do-it-yourself workshops on a wide range of biological techniques and processes.

Artists from BioTechnique (an exhibition at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, October 25, 2007–January 6, 2008), scientists, and educators demonstrate how to spool DNA, extract and cultivate stem cells, construct a home distiller or a hyrdoponic garden, hybridize plants, and more. See cutting-edge laboratory equipment put to work alongside traditional horticultural methods and everyday bioreactions, and enjoy hands-on interaction with each display. Visit biotechnique.blogspot.com for more information.
