Marc Fornes is the founder and principal of THEVERYMANY, a design studio and collaborative research forum engaging the field of architecture via what he calls "explicit and encoded protocols." THEVERYMANY's research, mostly showcased as experimental installation work, has been exhibited in numerous museums and art galleries around the world, from London to Berlin, Frankfurt, Calgary, Lyon, New York, Los Angeles, and Beijing. The firm is based in New York and practices in the United States and Europe. Its work in architecture and design focuses mainly on computation, and the generation and automation of parts.

Fornes was formerly a project architect for Zaha Hadid Architects, where he worked on the experimental Mediatheque in Pau, directing the material research and geometrical development for the largest self-supported carbon fiber shell to date. In 2007 he produced and curated Scriptedbypurpose, the first exhibition exclusively focusing on scripted processes within design. Recently he curated the European section for the Architecture Biennale 2008 in Beijing. He co-teaches a graduate studio with Francois Roche at Columbia University and the University of Southern California.

The 2010–11 Architecture Lecture Series is funded by Grants for the Arts / San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund; HDR Architecture; Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc.; Pfau Long Architecture; ROMA Design Group; Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP; SmithGroup; WRNS Studio; Jensen Architects; Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects; BraytonHughes Design Studios; Cass Calder Smith; Fennie + Mehl Architects; GCI, Inc.; Levy Design Partners; SRG Partnership; Ratcliff; Ryan Associates; BIOS Design Collective; and Andrea Cochran.
