David L. Eng is a professor at the University of Pennsylvania whose areas of specialization include American literature, Asian American studies, psychoanalysis, critical race theory, queer studies, and visual culture. He is author of The Feeling of Kinship: Queer Liberalism and the Racialization of Intimacy (2010) and Racial Castration: Managing Masculinity in Asian America (2001). He co-edited Loss: The Politics of Mourning (2002) and a special issue of the journal Social Text, “What’s Queer about Queer Studies Now?” (2005). He is currently at work on a study of neoliberalism and desire in Chinese cinema. Eng received his PhD in comparative literature from UC Berkeley.
