Jeweler Amy Tavern is a visiting artist for the Jewelry / Metal Arts Program. She has a studio in Asheville, NC. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Her lecture will be titled "Layer After Layer."
In addition to being a studio artist, Tavern instructs beginning and specialized jewelry workshops. She has lectured at the Society of North American Goldsmiths conference on two occasions and has spoken at universities around the United States.
In the last two years she has had solo exhibitions at Beyond Fashion in Antwerp, and at Velvet da Vinci in San Francisco. She has also exhibited in group shows at Sienna Gallery and Heidi Lowe Gallery, among others.
In 2009 Amy received several emerging artist honors including being named an American Craft Council Searchlight Artist. Tavern's jewelry has been published in numerous books such as New Rings and 500 Silver Jewelry Designs and was featured on the cover of Metalsmith Magazine’s 2012 “Exhibition in Print.”
Tavern recently completed a three-year artist residency at the Penland School of Crafts and her work can be found in galleries around the United States and abroad. She earned a BFA in Metal Design from the University of Washington in 2002.
