Sarajevo-born Aleksandar Hemon, author of The Question of Bruno and Nowhere Man, arrived in Chicago in 1992 and began writing in English in 1995. His Nowhere Man "triggers hyperventilating comparisons to Nabokov, Kundera, and Danilo Kis," writes Joy Press (Village Voice). Hemon's writing appears regularly in Paris Review, McSweeney's, Esquire, and The New Yorker. He was named a MacArthur Fellow for 2004.
