Young Photographers Exhibition
May 18–24

Irwin Student Center Gallery, Oakland campus
Opening reception: May 18, 4:30–6:00 PM
Gallery hours: 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

An exhibition of photography by the Young Photographers Program at McClymonds High School. This year, participants worked with lead artist Bayeté Ross-Smith (MFA 2004) and artist assistant James Green (BFA 2005), a CCA Community Student Fellow from the Center for Art and Public Life.

The Young Photographers Program brings professional artists with knowledge of commercial and fine art photography into the art classroom to expose students to new ways of thinking about topics relevant to their educational, community, and personal experiences. Through photography, students explore their lives at home and in the world. Students learn darkroom techniques, camera operation, and photographic composition, while writing personal essays, which correspond with their photographs and document their artistic process.

Co-presented by Southern Exposure.
