Juried Exhibition: Altered and Strangely Democratic will highlight the overall process that transpires as a juried exhibition is being created. Twelve artists will be recognized, as well as the jurors. The exhibition will reference comparisons in the jury process to similar structures in other areas of life.

Featured artists will be Jarrett Mitchell, Lettie Jane Rennekamp, Bryan Kaplan, Joshua Pieper, Whitney Hubbs, Mads Lynnerup, Tonya Solley Thorton, Jason Mortara, Ben Riesman, Amy Rathbone, Sue Pak, and Sarah Cain.

The exhibition has two juries. The first is composed of art professionals who work for various art institutions in the Bay Area. The artists selected by the first jury were reviewed by the second jury, which is composed mostly of artists who work in the experimental artist residency program called the Independent School of Art.
