Over the past 15 years Canada-based Janet Cardiff and Germany-based George Bures Miller have produced multimedia installations and audio walks that extend the boundaries of visual art, becoming hybrids of theater, film, and performance. Imbued with disquieting narratives, their works invite the viewer/participant to enter into an intimate space of reflection, observation, and mystery. Cardiff and Miller have presented work internationally at venues including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; and the Kunstverein Hanover. One of their most recent and most well-received works consisted of a self-guided audio walk through New York's Central Park.
