Allen S. Weiss is a writer, theorist, translator, and playwright, working in the fields of experimental sound and radio, performance and cinema studies, landscape, cuisine, and philosophy. He is the author and editor of more than 30 books, including Mirrors of Infinity: The French Formal Garden and 17th-Century Metaphysics, Feast and Folly: Cuisine, Intoxication, and the Poetics of the Sublime, and Phantasmic Radio. Weiss codirected Theater of the Ears, a play for electronic marionette and taped voice based on the writings of Valère Novarina, and choreographed a danse macabre for the dolls of Michel Nedjar, which was part of the exhibition, Poupées, that he co-curated for the Halle Saint Pierre in Paris.
