JUST ADDED: Professor Alex Filippenko to discuss "The Dark Side of Cosmology–The roles of Dark Energy and Dark Matter in the Evolution of the Universe"
Professor Alex Filippenko, UC Berkeley astronomer (and five-time recipient of its Best Teacher distinction), world-reputed specialist in modeling and observing supernovae and using the most distant of these exploding stars to determine what is happening to the universal rate of expansion: his findings show that the expansion is speeding up and, thus, the universe will end in ice.
