Robert B. Pippin has helped revolutionize our understanding of the philosophy of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. His books include Hegel's Idealism: The Satisfactions of Self-Consciousness and Modernism as a Philosophical Problem: On the Dissatisfactions of European High Culture. He has also written extensively on topics in aesthetics as approached from a Hegelian point of view. Pippin is the Raymond W. and Martha Hilpert Guner Distinguished Service Professor in the Committee on Social Thought and the department of philosophy at the University of Chicago.
