Architectural collaborators David Benjamin and Soo-in Yang, based in New York, call their group the Living. If buildings could talk to one another, what would they say? The Living City is an ecology of facades where individual buildings collect data, share it with others in their social network, and respond to the collective body of knowledge. The facades monitor local air quality, exchange information with other buildings, and open gills to control air flow and make visible the invisible effects of changing air.
The Architecture Lecture Series is funded by Grants for the Arts / San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund, Field Paoli Architects, Jensen Architects, BKBC Architects Inc., BRAYTONHUGHES Design Studios, HKIT Architects, Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects, Marc L'Italien, EHDD Architecture, NicholsBooth Architects, Ratcliff, SRG Partnership, and Toby Levy, with additional support from ELS Architecture and Urban Design.
