TURKEY: International Sinopale Biennial
Information session with Mariella Poli

Students in this interdisciplinary course participate as a collective, collaborating with residents of Sinop on a project that reflects the conceptual framework of the Sinopale Biennial. By fostering partnerships in the international community, the class exposes students to, and develops a deeper understanding of, global discourse. The completed work will be part of an exhibition and catalog in the 4th International Sinopale Biennial.

Prerequisite: Completion of sophomore year and instructor approval
For undergraduates, this course satisfies a studio elective or an upper division Interdisciplinary studio (approval pending for Diversity Studies).

For graduates, this course satisfies a gradwide elective.

Florence/Sant'Anna/Pienza/Venice
Information Session with Mariella Poli

Rich in history and culture and with a singular place in the development of Western art, Italy offers unique perspectives to all students of the arts. This interdisciplinary course examines Italian art, culture, and everyday life -- from the Renaissance to present day -- while providing students with the opportunity to work in the medium of their choice. (Students earn 3 credits.)

Prerequisite: Completion of sophomore year and instructor approval

For undergraduates, this course satisfies a studio elective, a Visual Studies requirement, or an Upper Division Interdisciplinary studio.
For graduates, this course satisfies a gradwide elective.

Kickstarter’s Art Program Director Stephanie Pereira will make a presentation on bringing a Kickstarter project to life. Learn how to structure a project, what kind of rewards work best, and other helpful tips and valuable stats.

You are welcome to bring your lunch to the workshop. Delicious Anthony's Cookies and other sweet treats will be provided by the Alumni Association.

Berlin Interdisciplinary Studio Information Session with Kelli Yon

The Berlin Studio provides a cultural and intellectual exchange within the international art mecca of Berlin. Students explore the city’s art scene through a series of interdisciplinary workshops with different Berlin-based, international artists. For three intensive weeks, students work with several midcareer artists of different disciplines and backgrounds on various site-specific projects throughout the city.

Prerequisite

Undergraduates: Completion of sophomore year and instructor approval
Graduates: Instructor approval

For undergraduates, this course satisfies a studio elective or an Upper Division Interdisciplinary studio.

Career Services and Academic Affairs enthusiastically present the 2012 Art and Design at Work Professional Development Series. Art and Design at Work is an information-packed series of workshops focused on presenting key tips on how to succeed in the creative industry as an artist, designer, writer, or entrepreneur.

Fiscal sponsorship can help provide 501(c)3 tax-exempt status to independent artists and small or new art-related companies seeking funding or donations. This session explores fiscal sponsorship and includes application instructions, an introduction to fundraising, and an explanation of tools within the Fractured Atlas Program.

Dianna Debicella from Fractured Atlas will lead the workshop.

Information Session with Raul Cabra

Surrounded by the sierra of southern Mexico, Oaxaca is a city of rich heritage that combines ancient indigenous cultures, colonial architecture and history, and sophisticated modern culture. This course explores the opportunities and implications of collaborative work with local craftspeople and artisans in a cultural context rich in tradition and history, providing an opportunity for a carefully crafted cultural immersion.

Personal work and formal experimentation are necessarily informed by an interaction with local history, arts, and culture.

Prerequisite: Completion of sophomore year and instructor approval.
For undergraduates this course satisfies a studio elective, a Diversity Studies studio, or an Upper Division Interdisciplinary studio.
