Return to the current Academic Affairs newsletter
Dear faculty,
As many of you know, I started my new role as Provost at the beginning of February. So far, I have spent most of my time listening to ideas and learning about all the different programs we offer. There is so much to discover and understand! I am eager to hear from all of you and hope to schedule a faculty-wide town hall meeting in the near future. This is an exciting time to join the CCA family: We have a lot of opportunities in education and, as I discover each day, a remarkable faculty to develop them.
I've been very pleased and appreciative to realize how well Academic Affairs has been run under Melanie Corn’s interim leadership. Accreditation is proceeding well as we enter the final stretch. All of the operations of our office are running smoothly. On behalf of all of you and the entire college, I would like to thank Melanie for doing such a terrific job. She and I will soon delineate our shared and separate responsibilities as Provost and Associate Provost of the college, but we will continue to work closely on important issues and initiatives.
I plan to spend Tuesday through Thursday on the Oakland campus in the Macky Hall office, Monday and Friday in a temporary office in 80 Carolina on the San Francisco campus.
My phone numbers are:
Oakland: 510.594.3649
San Francisco: 415.551.9316
I look forward to meeting all of you and hearing your vision for CCA's exciting future.
Mark Breitenberg, PhD
Provost, California College of the Arts
