Party Like a Rock Star: Team California Wins Third Place

Ignoring the rain and cold, Team California held an impromtu dance party in Refract House following the announcement of their third place win in the Solar Decathlon. With the Shop Boyz blaring, students from several other teams joined in the celebration.

Earlier in the morning, emotions ran high in the main tent of the Solar Decathlon competition. There were whistles and cheers (and even a few tears) following each announcement: third place, second place, and third place in engineering. And then, finally, the overall winners:
Team California, third place
University of Illinois, second place
Team Germany, first place

The celebration was cut short by the reality that the teams must lead tours of the houses today from 11 am to 3 pm. It's back to work for now, but you can imagine there will be some celebrating in our nation's capital tonight!
