CCA’s Sandra Vivanco, an associate professor of Architecture and Diversity Studies and principal of the San Francisco-based firm A+D, Architecture + Design (named in 2009 by California Home + Design magazine as one of its “10 Architects to Watch”), will have a recent project featured on Spanish-language Channel 14’s ¡Al Despertar! program Tuesday, April 27, from 6–7 a.m. (See complete details.)
The Henriquez Residence project entailed completely rebuilding an existing working-class turn-of-the-20th-century cottage into a 2,100-square-foot, four-bedroom minimalist home that “also proves that a green house can be built for a mind-bogglingly low price: $240 per square foot, about half the going rate.” The end result, a charming, livable house, has all the qualifications for LEED (leadership in energy and efficiency design) gold certification.
