CCA’s Graphic Design adjunct professor Christopher Simmons is a designer, writer, educator, design advocate, and principal of the noted San Francisco design office MINE™. As part of CCA’s Graphic Design 2 course, Simmons writes a blog for which his recent post, “What Design Can’t Do,” has been featured in Gain: AIGA Journal of Business and Design, the AIGA’s online compendium of articles dedicated to stimulating thinking at the intersection of design and business.
“What Design Can’t Do” addresses how companies create a brand and explores what role in the process the designer should play. Originally created to share with clients, Simmons’s illustrations are useful tools for all designers who are learning how to communicate with future clients.
Simmons lectures on design issues for colleges, universities, and professional associations, and frequently participates as a judge for major national and international design competitions. He is a past president of AIGA San Francisco and recently completed his fourth book, The Good Design Book (HOW Design Books, a division of F+W Media).
AIGA is the leading professional organization for design in the United States, with over 20,000 members and 65 chapters nationwide.
Congratulations, Christopher!
