Calling All Undergraduates

Fall 2009 alumni and spring 2010 graduates are eligible to participate in the college's Baccalaureate Exhibition that takes place May 6–11 at the San Francisco campus in conjunction with the commencement.

We welcome your participation. The exhibition is a terrific way to share your work with family, friends, and the entire Bay Area arts community.

CCA's Fashion Design Program is having an exceptional month. In addition to accomplished alumna Amy Sarabi's current run (and win!) on Lifetime's popular Project Runway, the program was recently being ranked number one by CollegeCrunch.org, and it landed a shout-out in Women's Wear Daily, the fashion industry–touted "Fashion Bible!"

First Project Runway, Now Highest Ranking . . .

Apparently having CCA Fashion Design alumna Amy Sarabi competing in Season 7 of Project Runway just wasn't enough media attention—now CCA's celebrated Fashion Design Program has been praised by College Crunch as a top-10 college fashion design degree program in the United States!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support the student-organized Haiti Relief Fundraiser on Thursday, January 28, 2010. All of the food for sale was generously donated by CCA students who cooked and baked amazing things. Every bit of food was sold, raising $573.25 for relief efforts!

The community truly came out to support the cause, and many persons made additional donations beyond their purchases. See the Student Life page on Flickr to view more images from the fundraiser.

Yesterday California College of Arts faculty member Cheryl Dunye escorted 12 CCA Media Arts students on one of the most exciting adventures a student could dream up: a weekend at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.

Students arrived sleepy-eyed at the crack of dawn at the San Francisco International Airport to board their plane, but the excitement stayed in the air and kept everyone amped up for a good time.

Last night San Francisco made history by hosting "Sundance Film Festival U.S.A." at the Sundance Kabuki Cinemas in Japantown. CCA Media Arts cochair Rob Epstein and codirector Jeffrey Friedman were on hand for the screening of their new feature film, Howl, which kicked off the Sundance Film Festival last week in Park City, Utah, and will screen once again tonight.
