Max Pollock observes that the Tenderloin, bustling with true San Francisco diversity, may be commonly perceived as drug infested and dangerous, but that in actuality it is much different. After sundown, he says, the Tenderloin offers exciting night life, dance clubs, and upscale bars that attract a socioeconomic class quite different from the one that mostly occupies its streets by day. His 12 images show the differences between day and night within this complex urban environment, exposing both stereotypes and realities.
