Parent PLUS Loans

All Parent PLUS Loan Borrowers

Instructions listed here are intended for those parents who wish to borrow through the federal PLUS loan program on behalf of their children who are CCA students.

To receive a federal PLUS loan:

  1. Return to CCA a signed copy of your child's financial aid award letter that includes a PLUS loan offer. Be sure to accept the loan on the award letter for which you intend to borrow.
  2. Complete the online application to confirm your PLUS loan lender and intended amount to borrow.

(It's possible to borrow a greater amount than what was indicated on your child's financial aid award letter. You can borrow up to the total estimated cost of attending CCA less other financial aid. You can request a higher amount either using the form above or contact us for more information.)

Note: You must complete the CCA confirmation process even if you have already contacted a bank directly.

You may compare lenders on our preferred lender list using the application above. You also may borrow from any lender that participates in the PLUS loan program, including those lenders not listed.

For additional information on the terms of PLUS loans, visit Educational Loans.

If you prefer to not complete the PLUS loan confirmation and application online, you may download, print, and mail or fax a copy to the Financial Aid Office. Please contact us for mailing and faxing information. If you use the hardcopy confirmation form, you will need to contact your lender to obtain a Master Promissory Note in order to complete the process.

Important Notes:

  • Repayment for Parent PLUS Loans begins 60 days after the loan is fully disbursed. You may request to defer the payments or make interest-only payments while your child is enrolled. Such requests go directly to your selected lender.
  • Only parents are allowed to apply for the Parent PLUS Loan; students cannot apply. The loan neither is transferable nor can it be consolidated into Stafford loans or to the student's name.
  • This is a credit-based educational loan program. Federal standards of creditworthiness are more flexible than those used for private/alternative, nonfederal educational loan programs. If you do not meet the federal credit requirements, you can still receive a loan provided you obtain an eligible endorser (cosigner).
  • Your lender must review your credit (and your cosigner's credit, if applicable) each time you apply for a Parent PLUS Loan. Borrowers should carefully evaluate and compare all available loan options before proceeding to apply for a Parent PLUS Loan.
