Applying for Stafford Loans

New Students and First-Time Stafford Loan Borrowers

Instructions listed here are for those students who are new to CCA, continuing students who are borrowing for the first time, or continuing students who wish to change lenders or borrow less than the initial amount offered on their financial aid award letter.

To receive a federal Stafford loan:

  1. Return a signed copy of your financial aid award letter to CCA that includes a subsidized or unsubsidized Stafford loan, or both. Be sure to officially accept the loans you intend to borrow.
  2. Complete the online application to confirm your Stafford loan(s) lender and amount you wish to borrow. You may compare lenders on our preferred lender list using the application above. You may borrow from any lender that participates in the Stafford loan program, including those lenders not listed on our preferred lender list.
  3. Complete loan entrance counseling online or in person during new student orientation week. Only first-time borrowers at CCA need to complete entrance counseling.

For additional Stafford loan information, visit Educational Loans.

If you prefer not to complete the Stafford loan confirmation and application online, you can download, print, and mail or fax a copy to the Financial Aid Office. Please contact us for mailing and faxing information. If you use the hardcopy confirmation form you will need to contact your lender to obtain a Master Promissory Note (MPN) in order to complete the process.

Continuing CCA Stafford Borrowers

Continuing CCA students who have borrowed Stafford loans while at CCA and who wish to accept a loan for 2008-09, can simply return a signed copy of their financial aid award letter. We will automatically certify your loan for the full amount you indicate on your award letter, using your previous lender unless you request otherwise.
