Each year Residential Life searches to find qualified applicants for our three different categories of student-employment opportunities.

Listed below are the types of positions offered to current CCA undergraduate and graduate students.

Undergraduate

Resident Advisors Positions

The Resident Advisor position is a 15-hour-per-week job that requires you to be readily available to all residential students. As an RA, you live and work with approximately 15-25 students within the residence halls.

Primary responsibilities (list is not exhaustive):

  • academic/personal advising and referral of students to campus and other information resources
  • development of floor and hall community
  • explanation and enforcement of Residential Life and college regulations and policies
  • liaison between students and Residential Life personnel
  • accompanying administrative tasks

Employment is for one summer session (June – July) and one full academic year (August – May). RAs do not work during the summer and winter breaks (July – August and December – January, respectively). Arrangements to live elsewhere must be made for the winter break.

The deadline to submit an application for the RA position for the 2013/2014 academic year is closed. Please try back next year beginning in January.

Graduate

Each year the Office of Residential Life runs a search process to find qualified candidates for a San Francisco based graduate assistant opportunity. During the spring semester, we accept applicants if a vacancy is confirmed for the following academic year. Throughout the academic year we continue to accept cover letters and resumes to fill any unexpected vacancy.

Graduate Assistant for Community Engagement

The graduate assistant for community engagement (10 hours per week) is an hourly position based in Oakland that is responsible for implementing learning opportunities that assist students in expanding their social consciousness in the areas of diversity, social justice, and social responsibility.

Graduate Assistant for Residential Life for the California Street Residences (live-in requirement)

The graduate assistant for residential life (20 hours per week) is responsible for assisting the Office of Residential Life in the overall administration and community development of the California Street Residences, which houses 35 CCA students.

The GA creates a safe and educational living environment through one-to-one connections and hosting community activities. This position is based in San Francisco and resides in the California Street Residences.

The GA participates in a weekly on-call rotation and reports directly to the residential life coordinator. Compensation for this position includes a single room valued at $12,150 and $2,000 stipend for the academic year for a total of $14,150.

Summer Graduate Assistant for Residential Life for the California Street Residences (no vacancy)

The summer graduate assistant for residential life (20 hours per week) is responsible for assisting the Office of Residential Life in the overall administration and community development of the California Street Residences, which houses 28 CCA students over the summer.

The GA creates a safe and educational living environment for continuing students and new graduate international students living in the hall during the summer. This position is based in San Francisco and resides in the California Street Residences.

The GA participates in a weekly on-call rotation and reports directly to the director of residential life. Compensation for this position includes a single room valued at $3,840 and $750 stipend for the summer.

Other Graduate Student Positions

Graduate Assistant for Access and Wellness (no vacancy)

The graduate assistant for access and wellness (15 hours per week) assists the Office of Student Affairs in furthering the mission and focus of Access and Wellness Services at CCA.

The GA is supervised by the director of access and wellness and works closely with students to provide quality services and learning opportunities that assist students in increasing their own physical and emotional self-awareness through active and passive events.
