PHANTOM SIGHTINGS: ART AFTER THE CHICANO MOVEMENT

April 6–September 1, 2008

This exhibition is the first comprehensive
consideration of the legacy Chicano art in
almost two decades.

The artists—including Christina Fernandez, who documents the "phantom"in the urban landscape; Mario Ybarra Jr., who creates site-specific installations; and the art group Asco—share an interest in what Harry Gamboa Jr. has called "conceptual art in an urban form,"or what the exhibition's curators call "phantom sightings."

OPEN CALL: Orientation Leader Position

Orientation leaders serve as mentors for new students, who are making the transition from their previous environments to CCA, by:

  • Leading groups through orientation, the campus and its resources
  • Facilitating discussions about student success in college
  • Engaging new students in Welcome events and activities
  • Helping new students transition to CCA

Dates:
* Thursday, August 21 – 22 (Training)
* Monday, August 25 – 29 (New Student Orientation)

Compensation:
Each leader will receive a $300.00 stipend plus meal expenses incurred during orientation.

Stop by Student Affairs on either campus to pick up an application. Please submit completed application by Friday, April 25, 2008.

ISAP's Foreign Film Committee invites you to watch

"Hiroshima Mon Amour"

This movie is about a young French woman who has spent the night with a Japanese man in Hiroshima where she went for the shooting of a film about peace. He reminds her of the first man she loved.
