Students who attend CCA-sponsored summer study-abroad courses may be eligible for Federal Pell Grants and Federal Direct Loans as long as they are enrolled in a minimum of six units for the summer.
CCA scholarships are not available for study-abroad courses. The tuition for these courses has already been discounted. It includes housing costs and more. (It is as if everyone got a scholarship up front.) Please see individual program descriptions to see what is included in addition to earning three credits.
Students enrolling in CCA-sponsored study-abroad courses must submit a 2016-17 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to the U.S. Department of Education either online or by mail by Monday, February 8, 2016.
Students must also submit CCA's summer financial aid application to the Financial Aid Office for summer aid consideration. Students should submit this application by Friday, February 15, 2016, in order to receive an award notification in a timely manner.
The summer application is available under Financial Aid Forms and in the Financial Aid Office on both campuses. Please read the application carefully -- incomplete applications will not be processed. The last day to submit a 2016 summer financial aid application is April 29, 2016. Requests for summer financial aid received after the deadline will not be considered.
The sooner you submit your materials, the sooner you will receive an award notification.
Students should receive their loan estimate from the Financial Aid Office three to five business days after their FAFSA has been received by CCA and their summer financial aid form has been submitted to the CCA Financial Aid Office. Once students have received an estimate, they can go to the Student Records Office and register.
Summer Study Abroad Registration
Student Accounts has a list of students who have applied for financial aid and can review the estimated financial aid award amounts prior to registration. Charges in excess of estimated or actual financial aid award amounts must be paid at the time of registration.
Note: A $50 nonrefundable registration fee is required.
Estimated financial aid award amounts are subject to change based on your 2016-17 FAFSA information. Final award notifications will be available after all required documentation has been submitted and reviewed by the Financial Aid Office and you have enrolled in at least six units for the summer.
Enrollment changes may result in adjustments to your summer financial aid. Changes to your summer schedule after your first course has started may be considered a withdrawal and could affect your eligibility.
Students are responsible for all charges that result from a withdrawal.
For more information, please visit Policies or contact the Financial Aid Office prior to making course changes.
Students who will be completing their degree requirements in the summer may not be eligible for the full loan amount.
