The art of games is the marriage of technical finesse and artistic ability. This class will address both while learning how to create assets and art for video games. Students will learn the ins and outs of the game industry, its language, and current practices, and will produce usable game art. We will cover the entire art pipeline, from concept to modeling; unwrapping; texturing; lighting environments, and vehicles for video games using maya and photoshop. Skills learned in this class can be applied to creating work for PSP, Wii, DS, and iPhone, and sets a solid foundation for pursuing advanced techniques for PS3, Xbox 360, and other current gen workflows.
