ANIMA-270

Animation Workshops are a series of courses that teach essential skills about a specific topic within animation. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will engage in rigorous study about a specific subject matter. The goal of Animation Workshops is to produce work that illustrates the skills learned. These courses are open to all CCA students who have completed CORE D1 and 4D.

Introduction to Maya is a skills course designed to teach the fundamental aspects of Autodesk's Maya software. As an introductory course, it provides a basic understanding of the techniques employed by 3D designers in animation and rapid prototyping. The tools, techniques, and topics studied will include 3D modeling, 3D scene layout, lighting, texturing, and rendering. Working through a series of creative projects, emphasis will be placed on "best practices" for building objects, modeling according to the requirements for the intended use, optimizing geometry for rendering and animation, importing and exporting of files, and covering issues that a 3D modeler might encounter while working in a production pipeline.
