How to Apply

Include with your registration form:

  • Completed registration form (remember to sign the waiver and check off about reading the refund/conduct/absence policies at the end of the application)
  • Full tuition or initial payment, unless you are applying for a scholarship
  • High school transcript (unofficial transcripts are acceptable)

Registrations that omit any of the three above-listed items will not be processed.

Applicants for the Graphic Novel Workshop, Jewelry Design/Metal Arts, Explorations in Screen Printing, and Drawing and Painting may either pay in full at the time of registration or submit an initial payment with their application and pay the remaining balance due on or before May 14 or one week after your enrollment notification, whichever is later.

Photography Intensive requires payment in full with their application submission.

Payment may be made by check (payable to California College of the Arts) or by credit card (MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or American Express).

Mail Your Registration Materials

California College of the Arts
Office of Special Programs / Summer Atelier

Registrants are enrolled on a first-come, first-served basis. This program typically reaches maximum enrollment, so send in your application form as soon as possible.

Confirmation will be sent within one week of the registration form's receipt.

Late tuition fee: Failure to pay your tuition in full by the deadline could lead to forfeiture of your place in the program. A $100 late fee will be charged if the balance is not received by May 14.

Returned check fee: If for any reason a check does not clear for payment, a $25 processing fee will be charged to the student's account.

Scholarships (deadline is Monday, April 9)

Scholarship applicants must submit all their materials by Monday, April 9. Award notifications will be made by April 13.

Scholarships are available in a limited number for registrants who have significant financial need.

Because we anticipate the Summer Atelier will fill and only limited scholarship money is available, we strongly recommend that only registrants from families who could not otherwise afford to attend the program apply for a scholarship.

Spaces are reserved in the program for scholarship recipients.

Registrants should check the appropriate box on the registration form that indicates a desire for scholarship consideration.

Be sure to send the following materials with the application form and high school transcript:

  • a copy of the household's 2017 federal income tax return filed by a parent(s) or guardian(s)
  • a statement by the parent(s) or guardian(s) that describes the family's financial need for the scholarship, and the applicant's interest in the program
  • name and phone number of a current teacher or counselor
