Heather Phillips currently works at Designer Fund, where she advises top technology companies on how to build and develop teams of designers. She also runs Bridge, a professional development program for experienced designers, and writes about design leadership.

Previously, she led the design team at RelateIQ. Before that, she worked as a designer at Yammer, Airbnb, Chronicle Books, and supporting teams through Y Combinator.

Heather is passionate about connecting designers with one another, which she does through programs like Bridge, Women in Design, and as the head of the RISD Northern California Alumni Chapter.

She received her MFA in Graphic Design from RISD, where her thesis focused on the process of critique, and her BA in Art History and Visual Art from Occidental College, where she was a founding member of The Occidental Agency, a student-run agency providing design services to clubs and organizations on campus.

She teaches the Business of Design: Professional Practice in the Design MFA Program.
