FINAR-604

This studio will explore the land as a site for work. We will focus on the human and natural histories of two disparate sites and create original works that engage the complex cultural mesh of each site. We will work within two distinctive northern California landscapes - the Sierra foothills and coastal Marin County - by spending intensive periods at two world-class artist residencies - the FOR-SITE foundation just outside of Nevada City on the ridgeline above the South Yuba River (http://www.for-site.org/) and the Headlands Center for the Arts just north of the Golden Gate Bridge (http://www.headlands.org/). We will create new works for each site over the semester. The visits to FOR-SITE will be conducted over 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) - dates TBA - and attendance at all three is required.
