This course is a preparation and practicum for writing the MFA thesis, which is created in conjunction with the Thesis Project. The thesis is a document that articulates the nature of an artist's work. A typical thesis includes a synopsis of the work's historical and philosophical context and an exposition of the work presented. This course is conducted during the student's last two semesters. In the third semester before approval of the thesis abstract, a series of workshops are held to facilitate drafting the thesis as a prelude to grant writing, criticism and preparation of communicate documents for galleries, alternative spaces, and museums. During the fourth semester, in Thesis Seminar 2, individual conferences are scheduled to finish the thesis document.
