The cross-listed course between the Furniture and Interaction Design Departments will work with the Oakland Museum to explore and investigate the interplay between the museum and its audience. Working closely with curators and invited guests we?ll strive to understand how these interactions can be enhanced and developed through our design research and proposals. The final projects will be an active part of the museum?s upcoming 2013 exhibition on Customization. Students will work hands-on with technology and craft to create an enhanced experience for the public and staff of the Oakland Museum. Through this process students will be introduced to various field research methods and basic building skills utilizing the SF shop facilities, as well as introductory electronics, and programming basics.
