This class is intended for those interested in learning the basic design and techniques of glass blowing. This is a hands-on course during which we will explore the fundamental aspects of the craft. Students will learn the basics of drawing for desiqn, and the use of plan and two point perspective to refine and communicate visual ideas. Through demonstrations and practice in the hot glass shop, students will acquaint themselves with the tools and materials needed to realize blown forms in glass. Working with clear glass, students will develop basic glass blowing skills by learning how to form simple blown shapes such as the sphere, cylinder, disk and various vessel forms.Individual student skills will be emphasized. Additional materials fee will be charged. Open to students in all disciplines; no prior glassblowing experience necessary.
