In the Glass Studios, students will acquire the working vocabulary for numerous glass skills and techniques. Specific topics rotate each semester; please see the section description for details.
This course builds on basic, traditional glassblowing skills and challenges students to move toward more complex, technical proficiency. Demonstrations and supervised practice will introduce a variety of color application techniques and different approaches to creating forms. Individuals will learn the basics of drawing for design, light and shading, and the use of technical plan drawing to refine and convey visual ideas. Students will also gain collaborative skills, learning to communicate ideas and execute plans in conjunction with others. This class is open to any students who have taken Introduction to Glass and Blowing, Glass Product Design, or have a basic knowledge of gathering and shaping glass. Additional materials fee will be charged.
