ILLUS-220

These drawing courses are designed to help students build the strong drawing skills and foundation necessary for the practice and study of illustration.

The class is a studio drawing class working from the live model both nude and clothed. Medium is charcoal, charcoal pencil and brush, pen, and ink. The objective is for students to learn how to articulate a proportionate figure in poses ranging form 1-10 minutes. Students will acquire the skills to draw a dynamic figure using a diagrammatic method that teaches them to draw a ?stick figure with attitude?, which emphasizes finding the gesture and motion in the torso and using the plumb line to establish the weight of the figure. This simple figure becomes the proportionate frame for contour line, value, and pen and ink wash.
