This is the final course in the required series for Illustration majors. The goal of Thesis is for each student to pick a topic of their own choosing and produce 12 to 15 images that explore this topic in depth. The result will be at once a personal statement and a unified portfolio demonstrating the very best the student has to offer at the time of graduation. As part of the final project, students will also be expected to create a promotional piece about their Thesis: either printed material or a dedicated website. Through the semester, students will be expected to manage their time and will learn to use a Gantt Chart. There will be extensive discussions about promotion, business practices and ethics, and the changing nature of freelance illustration. The class ends with a final presentation and show. The presentations will be reviewed by guest Creative Directors, Art Directors, Museum Curators, Publishers and Gallery Owners in addition to the entire Illustration faculty.
