MARCH-640

Currently half of the AEC industry has adopted BIM technologies and it is expected that 75% will have adopted BIM within the next two-years. This course explores Building Information Modeling (BIM) and parametric design technologies and their applications in practice through software such as Rhino, Revit and Navisworks. In this course students will gain knowledge and insight into the use of BIM and parametric design technologies through design rationalization and an understanding of BIM best practices and standards. Students will learn to model and virtual prototype a built work demonstrating how building information can be used to compute material quantities, cost and be used in project management to make better more informed decisions. Additionally, student will gain an understanding of emerging project delivery methods such as integrated project delivery aided by BIM as a collaborative framework in building design.
