This course introduces students to a wide range of approaches for applying color to jewelry and small sculpture. Non-ferrous metals will be the primary medium but many of the applications can be translated onto steel. Techniques covered will include traditional, experimental and contemporary approaches with a strong emphasis on enameling techniques and patination. Students are encouraged to experiment and explore to discover new possibilities and outcomes, with a central focus on the transformative powers of color on form. Additional materials fee will be charged.
