Clay is one of the most dynamic and versatile mediums for translating the creative impulse into three-dimensional forms. By rendering ideas in space, participants in this studio learn to push the limits of their visual imaginations.

Students work with sculptural hand building, the potter’s wheel, and plaster molds in order to fully explore the intersection of art, craft, and design. Finishing techniques, glazing, and surface design bring the works to completion with a dual emphasis on ceramics as both a utilitarian and sculptural medium.

CCA’s spacious ceramics facility is one of the best in the Bay Area, with lots of natural light, fully equipped hand-building and wheel-throwing areas, gas and electric kilns, and a glaze room.

This studio is designed for both beginning and advanced ceramics students.

Ceramics is an all-day studio.
