PRINT-340

Transforming the Print This advanced course is designed to allow students to apply the knowledge and techniques learned in beginning and intermediate printmaking courses including intaglio, relief, lithography, monotype, book arts and screen print to mixed media printmaking. Exploration of digital and photo-based imagery may compliment these media. The focus will be to create work that combines the print media (already in the student's vocabulary) in unique ways that pushes the boundaries of the traditional print. Students may explore substrates alternative to paper such as fabric, wood, metal and 3-D armatures in the creation of large-scale prints and/or installations. To foster dialog the class will be introduced to contemporary artists engaged in intermedia print practice through presentations, field trips to exhibitions and visiting artists.
