The primary focus of this course will be to develop a body of work and present a solo exhibition. We will also concentrate on professional skills such as image presentations, compiling a portfolio, and investigating the art community outside of the school. Guests will include artists and curators. Students are expected to work independently outside of class as well as during some class hours. We will engage in a critical dialogue (both verbal and written) as it applies to your own work and the work of others. The ability to write and think critically in relation to your own practice is essential in the climate of today's art world. This class is designed to help you bring your ideas, critical thinking, research and technical abilities together. Students work to develop a sustainable, lifelong art practice that will continue to flourish once you have left the academic environment.
