PR1: Complex Cloth

In this beginning level print course, students explore complex compositions on cloth created by stenciled dye, block-printed pigment, screen printing, paste resists, and selective colorremoval on a variety of fabrics. By layering these processesonto commercial or hand-dyed fabric surfaces, a visual depth can be achieved with images and patterns emerging clearly or receding furtively. Research on pattern and narrative imagery contributes to the development of conceptual concerns and provides knowledge of historical precedents.
