INFLATION, FLOTATION, & SUSPENSION 2 Imagine your art from a dynamic perspective - floating in air or on water, suspended from the body or architectural structures, or becoming part of nature and landscape. This fiber sculpture course addresses structure, concept, and presentation as it pertains to weight, space, scale, and tension. We focus on flexible light materials - either new or recycled - including fabric, vinyl, paper, cording, wire, reed, and rattan. We apply the techniques of pattern drafting, alternative casting and molding methods, and lashing and netting to our investigation of inflation, flotation, and suspension. The focus will be on development of individual projects and one group installation.
