In addition to the financial aid assistance available through CCA, the Office of Financial Aid encourages students to seek sources of funding that are outside of the college. See the list of non-CCA scholarship opportunities below as well as links to large scholarship databases.

Our office attempts to keep the list of non-CCA scholarship opportunities current; however, scholarship information can change without notice. Contact the scholarship organization directly for the most up-to-date information.

Please note: Students should never have to pay for grant or scholarship information. Contact the Office of Financial Aid with any questions about an organization or company that requests or requires payment in order to receive or apply for scholarships or grants.

Awarded to dozens of undergraduate and graduate students each year. The First Generation College Scholarship is intended for students who are the first in their family to attend college.

Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in their first or second semester of college.

Undergraduate

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund is devoted to providing college scholarships for Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI).

Buenas Opiniones reviews the latest gadgets and products in various categories to help Latino consumers find the best products which can cover all of their requirements. Buenas Opiniones awards its annual Latino scholarships through various scholarship programs geared towards high school seniors, community college students, and current college students. In order to be eligible for any of them, students must have a 3.0 GPA.

Students who will like to be considered for the scholarship must submit a 500–1000 word essay on their struggles as a Latino student.

Diversity Advancement Scholarship

The Diversity Advancement Scholarship was created by the Architecture Foundation to help more minority students pursue a successful career in architecture.

To apply, students must fill out the online application, which includes a personal essay, two letters of recommendation, two examples of your creative work, and estimated college expenses (requires FAFSA).

Gates Millennium Scholar Program

The Gates Millennium Scholar Program selects 1,000 talented students each year to receive a good-through-graduation scholarship to use at any college or university of their choice. The program also provides each scholar personal and professional development through their leadership program along with academic support throughout their college career.

Hebrew Free Loan Society

The Hebrew Free Loan Society fosters economic self-sufficiency and economic security through interest-free lending. Primarily serving the Jewish community, the society works in partnership with others to ensure that our programs respond to identified needs and making a discernible difference in the lives of those they serve.

The society is offering various scholarships to Jewish students, students that are interested must follow the specific guideline of the scholarship that best fits their requirements.

Herbert Lehman Educational Fund

Undergraduate

The Herbert Lehman Educational Fund scholarship is awarded to students of outstanding character who are entering college for the first time and who will be attending an accredited four-year college or university as a full-time student.

Applicants must be African American, have U.S. citizenship, and are required to submit an application, essay, and transcript with standardized test scores.

National Coalition of 100 Black Women Scholarships

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women is dedicated to improving the lives of African-American women and girls in particular, and the broader Bay Area community, in general. The coalition offers a Working Women’s Scholarship for women working at least part-time, 30 years old or older, and seeking their degree. Also offered is the Young Black Women’s Scholar Program aimed at women in Bay Area schools who are college-bound.

Ron Brown Scholarship

Applications for the Ron Brown Scholarship are screened during February with recipients being selected in the spring prior to entering college. In March finalists are invited to participate in a weekend selection process in Washington DC.

The applicant must be an African American student who excels academically, exhibits exceptional leadership potential, participates in community service activities, and demonstrates financial need. Applicants are current college students, U.S. citizens, or hold a permanent resident visa card.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT)

Queens of the Castro

The Queens of the Castro invite you to apply for The Grace Towers Scholarship for the Arts. The scholarship recognizes and supports artistic & professional development in LGBTQI high school students of color.

Applicants must be high school seniors of color who identify as members of the LGBTQI community with financial need and strong academics.

Tang Scholarship

Undergraduate/Graduate

The Tang Scholarship provides financial assistance to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Asian and Pacific Islanders (API). The scholarship is renewable up to a maximum of three years (four years total).

Applicants shall be self-identified as Asian/Pacific Islander (having at least 25 percent ancestry), involved in the LGBT community, graduated from a high school in one of the nine Bay Area counties, enrolled full-time, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Curry Award for Girls Scholarship

The Curry Award for Girls Scholarship is awarded to young women who are self-motivated, need financial support, and are attempting to achieve despite tremendous obstacles.

Applicants must be female, between ages 16 and 26, currently reside in San Mateo County, a U.S. citizen or legal resident, and have demonstrated financial hardship.

Amount: $1,000 per award

Dress & Charm Scholarship

Located in New York, Dress and Charm is on a mission to reinvent the way you shop for bridesmaid dresses and bridal jumpsuits. They believe that everyone should own beautiful pieces that are of the highest quality and be made in North America, all while being affordable.

Dress and Charm specializes in pivotal times in life such as weddings, proms, graduations and special occasions. Dress and Charm believes that one of life most important times is a students acceptance into college. Dress and Charm understands that financial help is always welcomed and because of this, they have created a cash reward to students who would like to apply.

Interested applicants must write a minimum 750 word essay on one of the following topics: ‘How a college degree will be a pivotal moment in your life,’ how a college degree will enable you to create pivotal moments in other lives’ or ‘how a scholarship will enable you to pursue a college degree’.

The Crain Education Scholarship enables high school graduates to pursue a course of study they would otherwise be unable to follow due to limited financial means.

The Hazel Reed Baumeister Scholarship supports high school graduates of high academic achievement who would be unable to pursue higher education without financial assistance.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Scholarship

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship makes it possible for the nation’s top community college students to complete their bachelor’s degrees by transferring to a four-year college or university. It is the largest private scholarship for two-year and community college transfer students in the country.

Applicants must be a current or graduated community college student. Must enroll full time in a baccalaureate program, have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better, and demonstrate significant financial need.

The Screenplay Readers Scholarship for Diverse Voices in Cinema

The emotional and cultural power of the art of cinema is only magnified by the inclusion of diverse voices and viewpoints, and the viewpoints the industry is lacking the most are those of diverse backgrounds.

As college can be an expensive endeavor for many of these new, diverse voices, and their families, Screenplay Readers is proud to announce their Screenplay Readers Scholarship.

Students that interested in entering this contest, must write a 100-word essay telling their story as well as compose a 2-page short film screenplay.

The Tom Cory Scholarship was founded by Tom Cory a founding member of the Architectural Precast Association (APA), a group that is committed to establishing and upholding the highest level of quality assurance for the production of architectural precast concrete productions.

Whitaker Foundation Art Scholarship Program

With the support of the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts, the Zachary Watson Memorial Scholarship will award a $5,000 grant to a promising architect/artist/technologist to help them pursue their education and interests.

Adrian Rubin Scholarship

The Adrian Rubin Scholarship was created with our current students in mind who are considered leaders of the future. Over the years, college has become increasingly expensive and necessary. This scholarship serves the purpose of being able to help one student get closer to achieving their goal of landing their dream career without having to rack up hundreds of thousands of student loan debt in order to do so. Applicants will be required to write a 500-word essay where they answer the question, ‘how do you think real estate investments trends will change over the next five years?’

They are happy to offer a $1000 scholarship for students in any program of study to help students achieve their academic goals. American Advisors Group Do Something Good Grant

The American Advisors Group Foundation is passionate about helping out American senior citizens and wants to help students who share the same drive. They are offering a $1,500 grant to students who post a picture of themselves helping out senior citizens in their community with an appropriate caption of 100 words or less. Submissions are due January 31, 2018.

Anidjar & Levine Community Service Scholarship

The Law Firm of Anidjar & Levine understands the importance of education for young people and are aware of the fact that education isn’t accessible to everyone. Therefore to support students, they have launched the Anidjar & Levine Community Service Scholarship.
