CCA Counseling Services and the Gender Diversity Project (GDP) of San Francisco City College (SFCC) are delighted to offer an awareness-raising training for the CCA community.

Student Survey

All students are encourage to take a couple minutes and complete a gender diversity at CCA survey to help give feedback to the representatives at the Gender Diversity Project. Your participation is voluntary and anonymous.

Topics covered in the workshop:

  • basic terminology about gender identity and expressions
  • ways to incorporate topics of gender identity into curricula/classrooms
  • ways to transform classrooms/departments/campus community to make them more welcoming to students/staff/faculty of all gender identities and expressions
  • awareness-raising resources to use in classrooms and beyond
  • GDP educators and CCA Counseling Services staff on hand to answer questions and address concerns

Note: the workshop will be structured in such a way that will allow time-crunched participants to come for only the first hour, or stay for the full two-hour training.

The Gender Diversity Project is a service-learning project designed to work in service to, and in collaboration with, transgender communities at City College of San Francisco and beyond.

GDP’s mission is to dismantle the stereotypes that perpetuate fear, discrimination, harassment, and violence. GDP’s goal has been to work together in support, education, and advocacy projects to ensure the dignity and human rights.

The GDP has provided training for over 200 faculty/staff at CCSF and 60+ instructors and staff at San Francisco Art Institute as well as reaching community members at many other city and statewide conferences.


GDP Presenters

Iso Murillo, Gender Diversity Project Educator, Presenter, Advocate
Iso is a queer/gender studies major at CCSF. Her activism began in high school as president of her school's GSA club, and later moved on to become a youth trainer with the Gay Straight Alliance Network. Today she is dedicated to creating safe spaces.

Charlie Starr, Gender Diversity Project Educator, Presenter, Advocate
Charlie is a student leader and educator who has worked with the Gender Diversity Project for five semesters. He is passionate about intersectionality and social justice through education.

Ronnie Appleseed, Gender Diversity Project Educator, Presenter, Advocate
Ronnie is an educator and student advocate with City College of San Francisco's Gender Diversity Project. He has been working with the Gender Diversity Project for one year. Ronnie also works with Pushing Margins, a summer camp devoted to empowering LGBTQ youth through art, performance, and creative writing.
